So just imagine what it would be to ride 29 miles in LA. I would imagine it would be at least twice as slow. And how about overcrowding? Here, you get about 5-10% of buses that are full and not picking up passengers on a busy day. You wait another hour to get another bus. Add one more hour of wait time there. It would take 6 hours! And if that’s not just one street all the way down, you add hours of wait time. No. Not having it. Cenk and Ana are right on once again. It’s a joke.
In Vegas, it takes 2+ hours to go 6 miles on a bus. We don’t have NEARLY the traffic that LA has. I am not exaggerating. First, the schedules are meaningless, you can just throw those out the window. You can expect to wait 45 minutes to an hour for a bus, almost no matter where you are. Then, it goes an average of 5-7 miles per hour. I did the math one time. That was on a moderately busy street.
Public Transportation in Los Angeles is a fucking Joke! It is the transportation of last resort!

Catching the bus does suck. No matter where I have lived, it is exactly as the guy in the video said. Sometimes takes 1hr to go some where, 30 minute walk, or a 2-5 minute drive.

We fucking pay 21% vat IN ADDITION to 27% income tax not to mention all the extra taxes on things like smokes and booze, in the end we effectively throw away like half our wages on tax alone and our government just fucks us up the ass for it, which is one of the reasons i want to get the fuck out of this joke of a country i live in as soon as possible.
Seriously you Americans don’t know how good your situation is compared to many other countries.

@Theimmortalwhitewolf Ok, but how much would a 3 bedroom, 2 bath room house cost you in Tennessee? Probably less than $300K. Here in the greater Los Angeles area, on the other hand, it would cost us close to $600K.
My family lives in a 4 bedroom house that costs us $875,000 in LA county. If we move to TN, we could buy 3 decent houses with that money.
Our sales tax may seem trivial, but to many Angelino’s, myself included, the rising sales tax is the last straw to an already expensive city

it would work if there was something in place like a pass that you would buy that would last say a quarter of the year and you had to prove that you have a job in the city. but for everyone else just visiting and are there for leisure i dont see that big of a deal for paid parking.

you also have to remember that Los Angeles is HUGE. Way bigger than NY/Chicago/DC. So it will require a much larger public transportation system.
I get around fine with public transportation here in LA. We have the orange/red/blue/gold/ lines and the buses are frequent enough. And they are currently building more.

Our Metro is such a friggin’ joke, it’s useless. I was told that the state was paid off by Goodyear years ago in order to stop efforts to build an adequate public transportation system and keep people reliant on cars, I’m not sure if this is true or not but I wouldn’t doubt it.
