DIET vs EXERCISE Episode 1: Fat Loss Diet versus Best Cardio Workout to Burn Belly Fat

CLICK HERE for a FREE WORKOUT: www.turbulencetraining.com First instalment of diet vs. exercise where Craig Ballantyne and Brad Pilon show you how ineffective cardio is and just how dramatic your calorie intake can be without you knowing it. The simple truth is; you can’t out-train a bad diet. Today, in this contest, Craig Ballantyne is going to run on the treadmill on an incline of .5 and a speed of 10.5 mph for 3 minutes, while Brad Pilon eats pizza and drinks soda pop. Brad is going to try to consume as many calories as he can in those 3 minutes, while Craig is going to see how many calories he can burn off in that same amount of time. In 3 minutes, Brad consumed approximately 1000 total calories, while Craig burned only 43 calories. Cardio loses against diet. This just goes to show you, in diet vs. exercise, you can never out train a bad diet. It doesn’t matter how good your program is, if this is your nutrition, you’re not going to lose fat. I eat 20 pieces of pork bbq, and 4 cups of white rice sometimes with coca cola every other day with fasting in between and I was overweight around 290ish at 6″4 height and lost over 50 pounds in less than a month by exercising at least 3 hours a day of pure cardio boxing style, jump ropes, heavy bagand I’m still losing average 1-5 pounds a day. In other words we are all different and depending on your weight your results differ, which makes this video useless…

If anyone wants to look good, being healthy will pretty much make that happen. Eat well, get informed. “Diet” does not mean you have to starve, this word only means what type of nutrition you choose, so select a good one, rich in vegetables, fruits and grains. If you want to look “fit” then exercise is the best tool, but exercise alone WON’T MAKE YOU HEALTHY if you’re swallowing fat like a maniac.

  5. jenhernandez2008 says:

@Euphorica but that’s 800 calories for ONE MEAL for ONE DAY. you are supposed to do 30 min of physical activity a day. in only 30 minutes you cannot burn off whatever pizza you are trying to work off. diet has a much bigger effect on your weight that exercise.

  6. tehqyv says:

@tommytherunner I think you both missed the boat on reading and comprehension… The point which was made pretty clear is that you can not ‘out exercise’ a bad diet. eg. you can work out for 10 hours a day but if you spend 1 hour after that eating pizza you won’t have any caloric deficit. That you closed your argument using a world class athletes training diet (which is closer to ~8-10k anywhere but fox news, look it up) Try extrapolating the data you were given here and take a hard look at it.

I lost about 100 lbs in a year once by changing my eating habits alone. I was not exercising during that period.

    good point.

  12. tommytherunner says:

true if you ate 24 hours a day and exercised 24 hours a day you would be unbelievably fat, but, as Euphorica said you are not eating the whole day infact, if you ate your half a pizza (about 800 calories) then exercised for 1 hour at the tempo shown (some people can keep that intensity for an hour, not many but some) you would burn 860 calories! Michael Phelps certainly proves this as he has a 12,000 calorie diet!

Can you go down just by eating less, and eat vegetables 5 times a week?

  19. Euphorica says:

true to a pt….but you arnet going to be eating pizza for 1-2 hrs. youll be done in 6 mins..and not eat for hours. meanwhile any decent cardio program has you doing it 1-2hrs long….

so I get what you are trying to say ..its not even close to be remotely like that.

    Love the video guys!

Very good point. too many people hit the treadmill and then reward themselves, or work an extra half hour ( at half the intensity you were at Craig) and expect that will make the difference.

This is a fun way to prove a point.

this is retarded…name any physical activity that burns 800 cal in 3 min…might as well starve ourselves…is that the message here?

  22. gunice says:

@RaginRussian To be more accurate, its a good thing to get simple carbs like sugar right before your workout, or even better, right after. Secondly, his whole slogan is say no to cardio, but he is still working out in a cardio-like fashion, so its still cardio… Interval cardio is a great tool to lose bodyfat, but there is no way u can do an really intense 100% all out interval training first thing in the morning, slow and steady cardio however is perfect. Its a matter of preference..

  23. RaginRussian says:

@gunice well you obviously have a very ignorant way at looking at things. White flour or refined sugars quickly get absorbed as fat and slow you down not to mention suck a lot of nutrients from your body. Which is what that pizza is made with. The quality of food matters more than the quantity. Sure you could get your daily calories from junk but that’s how you’d be feeling. And he’s making a poin that interval training far surpasses regular cardio for fat loss.

  24. gunice says:

hmm.. I dont think its all that accurate, because losing fat is nothing more than calories consumed vs. calories burned. And a calorie is still just that, a calorie whether its from pizza or broccoli (surely broccoli is healthier). Another thing to remember is that muscle burns more calories than fat does, so get yourself some muscles and do your cardio on an empty stomach.. But you need to do your cardio.
