How to lose weight when you are trying to recover from severe anemia?

i have breathless on daily activities. i m on a high iron diet and take iron tablets. now my pallor is going away, but i have take rest often and still continue treatment until my hemogloblin and irons stores are restored to normal. At the same time, i have to lose a lot of weight. My doctor says not to strain myself and take plenty of rest. Take time off work. I don’t want to gain weight.
I don’t want to risk of getting heart problems as a complication of anemia.
