@GoldtopSam I agree that diabetics should watch their
fruit intake. I’ve been juicing for over 50 years & the major ingredients have always been apples & carrots! Especially for breakfast since those juices produce outstanding energy due to beneficial acids & complex sugars. I’ve never had stomach problems related to juicing apples & carrots. I think your statement that they are going to cause one hell of a belly ache is very misleading. Such a combo is a staple at juice bars everywhere.

And always remember, if you are on meds, check to make sure if it’s ok. You don’t want to bottom out your bp if on meds and juicing celery and cukes in large amounts or drug interaction with veg juice. Juiced veg is potent, because it is the essential part of the veg, oils, nutrients, natural chemicals. Juice only keeps for a few days, it oxidizes quickly, losing it’s nutrient punch, so juice only what you think you’ll drink in that few days. Cheers!

Believe it or not I use a Jack LaLane 99 buck juicer. These have gotten poor reviews, but I have been beating it to death for two years and it keeps the juice coming. When it dies, I’ll get another. Does what it says it does, juice comes out one end, the peel comes out the other and into the peel tank. Easy peasy. Produces a good amount of juice per veg. If you’re a hardcore juicer, you might want to spend more, but this works for me.

Also, not too much fruit juices, they can spike blood sugar level and are highly acidic. Add them as a small additive, a little goes a long way. Mixing apple and carrot juices is a sure way to one hell of a belly ache. It’s the malic acid in apples when mixed with other high fiber veg. Good veg to start. Celery, cucumbers, beets, parsley, cilantro, kale, romaine. Do not use iceberg, very little nutrient content

If you are not used to juicing, start slow, especially with carrot juice. Too much at first will make you agitated and nervous. Use carrot as a additive blend, avoid as a ‘main’ juice. Celery and cukes help to lower blood pressure and act as a natural diuretic. Celery helps to calm due to it’s high calcium content and cleanses the kidneys and liver. Start slow, couple of ounces a day and build up to avoid the ‘spacy’ feeling some get when starting to juice and hit it hard.

Ok I’ve watched a few of your videos and in everyone you’re juicing large amounts of fruits and vegetables. This is somewhat confusing to me, I juice 4 carrots, half a stalk of celery, 1 beat, and an apple and I have a full glass. I was told that saving the juice strips it of the vitamins and such. So why do you make so much?

Kathleen, these look wonderful! I always use less sugar, when I bake and get organic whenever possible too. I have been soooo into coconut lately…that and ginger…seem like I put crystallized ginger in everything, and this weekend I was going to make some Toasted Coconut Ginger Blondies. I have made coconut bread before and I want to try yours next. I have been using coconut oil ever since I won a 32 oz jar of organic virgin coconut oil, and 32oz of coconut cream concentrate ( I love to eat that on my toast in the morning it not very sweet at all) from Tropical Traditions. I also just received my order of coconut flakes (unsweetened) 2 lbs. So you might say I am on a mission to find good coconut recipes to use these in. What luck that I meet up with you. Wahoo!!!
